Question about just starting solids poo

We just started solids about 2 weeks ago.  I've been adding a little bit of sweet potato into his cereal twice a day.  His poops are way thicker and today we had a major poop.  I can't just put it in the washer anymore, it is so gross.  But what do you guys do?  Just scrap as much off as you can, or do you actually rinse it in the toilet?  It was so gross....I was so excited to feed Z solids, I forgot about this part!
