Sudden hand swelling

Im only 10 weeks pregnant and I was out walking with my hubby for some exercise and all of a sudden it felt like the skin on my hands was really stretching, and I looked at my fingers and they were really swollen. It was really hot outside, idk if that has anything to do with it but we were just walking. When we got home I soaked my hands in cold water and put some soap to get my rings off, which really hurt and their still pretty swollen and its been an hour since I noticed. Is this supposed to happen this early on? Should I call my doc cause I did read that it is a sign of pre eclampsia? Thanks for your input.
