First Trimester Screenings

I am trying to decide on if I should have the early down syndrome screening or not. I'm currently 10 weeks and 3 days and not sure if I want to get them. Is there anything they can do to prevent the down syndrome if it come back that it is possible or is the test just to find out? It just seems like extra money to spend on testing that you can't do anything about when you get the results. I have insurance but they don't cover everything. What are everyone's thoughts of the early screenings?
