sorry... poop question

I will call my pedi when they open but wondered if anyone might know.... we are combo feeding slightly more breast milk than formula and LO does not poop daily doc is OK with that since he's not straining and its still soft. Last night though, he went a smaller amount and it was a soft clay consistency. He didn't seem to strain but has been unusually fussy in general. Could this be constipation?
