What do I say to this?

BM came to SD's softball game tonight. It was nice she made the effort, but it was rough on SD. She hasn't seen her in over a week, so she wanted to talk to her during the game. Then after the game she got in my car and cried and said, "I wish I was going home with Mommy instead."

I really wanted to go off about how her mom chose to move away. But I saved that rant for my own head. I just said, "Well that can't happen right now. I'm sorry."

Is there something better to say in that situation?
