NBSR: Housewarming

I need some input and I like the opinions expressed here.

We just moved to CA and into a new house. i want to host a housewarming party. I plan to provide food and drinks. I have a few questions:

1. I would rather do appetizers and finger food so no sit down meal. Would 2-5 be a good time for the party? We don't know that many people so I don't expect to get crowds at our door or anything.

2. Is it tacky to put no gifts on the invite? If I put that on the invite is it weird? I usually bring wine to these kinds of events.
