Newbie and maybe jumping the gun

Hi everyone,

 New to this board. I will be 35 in a couple of months, DH is 36, we have an almost 4 and a half year old son. May was our first attempt to conceive and it was a flop. Stupidly, I thought this would be fool-proof because I was using the fertility monitor. I may be going overboard ,but i'm starting to get a little nervous because of my age. Do you think my ob would agree to some basic fertility tests to make sure i'm actually ovulating and that my plumbing is all clear or should I be patient and wait a few months? TIA
