Anyone know about FMLA for dads-to-be in NC?

My baby's father has been with his company a little under a year. It doesn't seem like his company will offer him any type of parental leave. What options/resources are available to him so that he can take the needed time off for the birth and bonding of our newborn son and still be offered his normal pay? Any advice/resources would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
