nipple shield quesion

Hi everyone, quick question.  I started using the nipple shield at 1 week pp because my DD wouldn't latch once my milk came in.  I tried at least once a day after that to get her to latch without it, but no dice.  Until this week. Now she latches pretty well with or without it.  It made me very happy!  So now the question.  I've been supplementing at least 2 ounces of formula with every feeding because she was still hungry.  Now that that horrible nipple shield is gone, do you think she'll A) get enough milk or stimulate milk production more so that she may get enough milk?  I have always hated supplementing and I am really hoping this is a turning point.  DD will be 6 weeks on Tuesday.
