Hi ladies,
I had a vaginal birth 2 1/2 years ago with my DD who was 5lbs 15 oz. I am now 32 weeks and am measuring about 4 weeks ahead, so I went in for a growth ultrasound yesterday. This baby is measuring at 5lbs NOW, and they are projecting 8.8 lbs at 39 weeks.
My FIL is a tall burly guy, and all the cousins on that side of the family are tall burly guys and were LARGE (11, 13lb) babies. One of DH's cousins just had a baby girl who was 10lb 3 oz. She broke her arm on the way out.
I fully understand growth scans can be off by a lb or so, and I do plan to try for another vaginal birth; however, I think there is a very real chance I may end up with an emergency c section, so I want to prepare myself the best I can.
Obviously, I'll talk to my drs, and I've already been on mayo clinic's site and web md, I just wanted to ask those of you have have been through this experience for advice.
What can I do to prepare myself? Also and other advice or info about your experience is much appreciated.
TIA!
