Ear infection?

Hi everyone... I have a 7 week old little boy who is usually mellow. This weekend we noticed some flaky spots on his ear. I thought it was dry skin, but then I noticed it looks like dried discharge. He started getting fussy while he was eating but he has no fever. I took him to The pediatrician yesterday and she said there's no infection, but he's still fussy and there's still drainage from the ear. Just not sure what to do since the pedi said no infection. Any advice in what this might be is appreciated. TIA.
