How can you tell if baby dropped?

I've already had one baby, but she was so low that she felt like she was going to fall out the entire last trimester! I never had a noticeable difference when the baby "dropped". I'm carrying this one a little higher, and am 37 weeks...how can you tell when they drop or engage??
