Help! DS is constipated!

We have been having problems with constipation with DS for a while now (Dr. is not concerned about it). But he it to the point where it is very painful for him while pushing, and either a very small hard amount comes out, or nothing at all. We have tried extra water in each bottle, yesterday we gave him a total of 4 oz of gerber apple/prune juice, massaged his belly and have been doing bicycle legs and nothing has helped. Many family members have been telling me to use Karo Syrup, has anyone ever tried this or do you have any other suggestions?
