She insisted on a registry why?!

One of my shower hostess mentions to me the other day, "People have been calling and asking what you still need for the baby. I tell them lots and lots of diapers and maybe some receiving blankets and that should do it."  My calm response was have you let them know there are two registries to help with ideas? I was so mad, she was the one who insisted I create a registry to give people an idea of things we would want and need.  Now she isn't even telling people about them? I am irritated even though yes I know the shower is a gift, but this isn't really about the shower but more about her choosing to tell people what we do and don't need.  Since when is it up to the hostess to decide what new parents need for the baby?
