picnic "sprinkle" menu question

i am throwing my SIL a "sprinkle". It has been over 5 years since her son was born, and this time she's having a girl, so I feel it is totally appropriate to do a shower/sprinkle.  We are doing it a little lower key: a vintage picnic in the park. 

 

Originally, I thought I would just do dessert and drinks...then I started getting carried away: cheese, fruit, little sandwiches, maybe tapas, maybe a salad....So now I am having second thoughts because the big shebang will be prett expensive, but is just dessert and drinks acceptable?  Maybe just the cheese, fruit, and desserts?  What do you guys think?  What if you were SIL, would you be cool with these simpler options at YOUR shower?
