Shower basics?

My SIL is due in September and we recently found out no one has planned a shower for her yet. When we first heard she was pregnant I thought I'd have fun throwing a shower for her, but assumed there would be a long line so I didn't worry about it....

So now the first date we're looking at is about 7 weeks away and I've never thrown a shower before. My own were a little different from the norm, so I don't have a model to work with from them. I'm hoping you ladies can give me the basics or even just some links or something on how to plan a nice shower.
