Out of town showers...

We just moved about 2 and a half hours from our hometown in January. I am now 21 weeks pregnant. I am not worried about the date OR the travel (just to clarify) but, my MIL and best friend are throwing me showers sometime between my 32-34 week mark in our home town. Does anyone have experience traveling for showers in that time frame? Should I tell them a "cut-off" date for my showers? They HAVE asked me for a cut off date but, I didn't know how to respond since this is our first. Thanks ladies
