Overseas travel after delivery?

Hi Ladies, My hubby and I were planning a trip to Italy in my 1st trimester and my OB said no way w. the morning sickness. Has anyone traveled overseas after delivery - thinking maybe 6 months out? My hubby wants to take me somewhere special over Xmas and I am open to both domestic and international spots. I am going to ask my pediatrician for her advice, but would like others opinions as well and/or did you travel with your newborn before one year old.
