STM- do more frequent BH lead up to labor?

I haven't really had a whole ton of BH contractions so far during my pregnancy, but I have noticed that the last couple weeks that I have been feeling them more frequently.  Is there any correlation between the ramping up of BH and labor (as in, they will get even more regular as a sign that labor is nearing) or are they completely separate, aside for the fact that in general, they're gearing up my uterus for delivery?  TIA!
