2 days past due and mustardy colored discharge

Is this my water breaking? I have been cramping and I guess I am starting to have contractions but they are frequent so I am not sure if it's just pain or what. Dr. said the color is normal, but its kind of snotty like. The color is a mustardy yellow / brown. Just wondering if anyone has any insight?
