Measuring big?

I had my 27 week appt today. Up until now everything has been normal. But this past month, I gained 8 pounds, and I am measuring at 30 weeks. I don't know how bc I have been eating the same and have been more active. My midwife said that the baby is big bc I gained so much weight... (28lbs since pre-preg). This doesn't make sense to me. It seems like it could be water or positioning, not necessarily the baby's size causing the measurement difference.

Can anyone share experiences?
