Measuring

Everyone keeps asking me how big my little guy is, but everytime they measure me they just say I'm right on track.  I keep thinking it's too early for them to be guessing how big he is.  Am I right?  When do they start guessing?  Also my doctor said that since I've already gained 30 pounds, that I don't need to gain anymore weight and that it would be fine if I didn't.  Is that even possible!?  Lol!  This is my first, hence all the questions!
