Baby blankets

With my other two I have made each of them a baby blanket. My son I did yellow because I made it well before I found out he was a boy and my daughter has a mixture of shades of girl colors. I started jr.'s blanket yesterday which will be a mix of blues and green. I crotchet not knit, but I was wondering if any other crafty moms are doing baby blankets for their LO or clothing? I am not extremely talented with it as I just know a basic stitch and DS has a stitch I did so long ago that I can't even remember how to do it. They look like little fans on his blanket. In any event, please share.
