internal cervix checks

Hey everyone

FTM here...I have GD and am 36 weeks along right now..LO is measuring 89 percentile about 38 weeks big. I have been having some rather serious cramping (contractions???) lately and LO has dropped.  My question is when do doctors normally start checking to see if you started to  efface/dialate?  I have not passed my plug yet and they are doing my strep B on Thursday...will they check my cervix at this visit?  Just curious to see when other people's doctors began to check effacement/dialation/station.
