Bleeding and cramping

So this morning I woke up with bright red blood mixed with some mucus in my underwear. At first I had mild cramping, like dull period pain, but for the past hour they've gotten stronger. To the point where I have to stop and hold my stomach and not think of much else. I'm waiting for the dr to call back now but I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this happen to them.
