Tanning question

First, of all, I am not a tanning person by any means.  I am very fair and burn easily, so I tend to just stay pale all year long.  Having said that, I have a wedding to go to in South Beach in May and am getting sort of freaked out by being a large, inordinately pale, pregnant person, surrounded by hot tan chicks in thongs.  I have been reading online, and I intend to talk to my OB at my next appointment, but does anyone have any tips about tanning safely during pregnancy?

I like to follow the "better safe than sorry" approach to pregnancy, so if it seems like a totally bad idea, I'm willing to show up looking Powder trying to digest a whole goat, but I'd rather not.  I've heard mixed things about spray tans - anyone know anything reliable about this?
