Neti Pot question. HELP!

So I got this thing yesterday and I can't seem to get it to work! Followed the directions step by step but or some reason when I use it it only drips ever so little out the other nostrol! And it likes to go down the back of my throat instead of my nose! Err getting so frustrating! Am I too clogged up for this thing to work or what?
