Nursery question...

What do you ladies think about the alphabet nursery for a boy? We don't know what we're having yet but I'm thinking I like the alphabet theme if it's a boy. I want to have themes picked out for both gender so we can start shopping when we find out. I see those cute pictures on pinterest with the wooden letters and I see some really cute ones on Etsy (kinda pricey) but am worried lots of people are doing the alphabet thing. I'm just not a big fan of characters, jungle themes, etc. I also like traveling for a boy- like planes, maps, trains. What do you like better? TIA
