3rd Trimester

for those of you planning to breast feed

I am a FTM and I wanted to share something with you that no one told me.

the whole idea that "if you're doing it right it shouldn't hurt" is kinda BS. even if you are doing it right(and I know I was, I saw lactation consultants daily for the first week, and they were actually impressed it came so naturally to me) there is a lot of friction going on there, baby's tongue is rubbing up against your nipple, and it may rub you raw. there is, however a light at the end of the tunnel, your nipples will hurt, they might even scab over, but then in a few days that scab will come off and then it wont hurt... for some reason the new skin is tougher.

now I'm aware this may not be how things happen for everyone, but I thought it might be helpful for some women to know that if it DOES happen to you, stick it out, in a week it'll be better. Don't take this as me telling you I know it all or anything, just this one thing I learned in the last week that I kinda wish someone had told me.
