vaginal swelling/pain.. tmi

So my vagina has been swollen for a few weeks now both inside and out with a little soreness but nothing too bad. My cervix had been closed with some menstrual type cramping but tues it was finally 1cm. So I decided I was gonna try the old "walk the baby out" trick today and although I was sore while I was walking mall and grocery store it wasn't awful until I got home and isn't getting any better. I can't sit or lay without my legs spread wide open and I tried an icepack with no help. It is extremely swollen and sooooooo painful. The only way I know how to describe the pain is how it would feel after rough sex multiplied by 100. Sorry for the tmi but if feels like I got screwed by a hammer. Not sure if I should call my Dr or not..they tend to brush off everything I say anyways but just wondering if anyone else has experienced this type of pain or if it could maybe be a sign labor is near?
