Rocking chair?

I've been looking at rocking chairs for the nursery, and I fell in love with the Ikea poang rocking chair. It was affordable and modern looking...but after testing one in stores I was so disappointed. The only thing I didn't like, was that it felt like it rocked really fast and was therefore awkward. Has anyone had one that they can offer their opinion? I am still in love with the way it looks, but I want it to be functional.

I'm not a fan of the gliders, so instead I've been looking into getting a leather recliner...anyone enjoy having a rocking recliner? I don't like the look quite as much but feel it is more functional and would clean up well as it can be wiped off easily...

I also worry about the poang rocker because I tried it on a hardwood floor and we have carpet...any thoughts?
