Mucus Plug?

Hi, I'm 36 weeks and 3 days pregnant. My doctor checked me for the first time the other day and said I was 1 centimeter dilated and at a -2 and starting to thin out. She also said that the baby felt like he was about 7 1/2 lbs. Yesterday morning, I woke up and went to the bathroom and when I wiped (sorry if it's tmi), there was a greenish yellow thick jelly like substance. I heard that your mucus plug could be dark brown, dark red, clear, or yellow. This was just a greenish yellow, but it was definitely thick and like jelly. Could this have been the mucus plug? I had cramping like pains yesterday and my hips and lower back have been killing me since. This is my first pregnancy, so I'm not sure what to expect. Any help would be great! Thanks!
