August 2013 Moms

Any Canadian mamas going on EI maternity benefits?

I dont know if I should try to get the required 600 hrs or not. It is a stretch for me as we have no child care for DD, so I need to squeeze in two 12 hr/ shifts per week in nights/ evenings/ weekends when DD is home to watch her. (I am an RN).I would need to do 24 hrs/ week from now till when I am 37 weeks. Last pregnancy I only worked till 34 weeks.. I work in ER and it is very demanding.

I am pretty tired at 13 weeks now and I did a night shift Friday which was the death of me. Could barely function Saturday and felt SO sick.

Any words of wisdom? Anyone else trying to squeeze in the hours? DD will only be 19 months when I am due on Aug 10 so that is part of it.. not enough time!
