V. spotting because of constipation?

I have been stopppppppped up.  Felt really uncomfortable and just like I couln'd fart, poop or do much of anything but belch after eating....

Talked with a friend that's an OB nurse and she told me to start taking some stool softeners, but before I could get any last night... I had to go and noticed that when I was through, I was spotting.  Bright red, very little, but enough to make it turn the tissue red for the first wipe and then slightly pink the rest of the evening....

Am I right to be worried?  Can constipation make you spot?   I'm 11-ish weeks.  First doc's appt. on Monday afternoon.  I've got some meds now and prunes.  Feeling like an old lady now.  I suppose I am one!

 And I'm sorry for posting another spotting post, but this is the only time I've spotted.  Just has me worried.  Especially since we are close to the end of first tri.
