Pacifiers

Dd was not interested in pacifiers at all until the past couple days. She is 1 month old. I have read so many various things about pacifiers being okay or not okay while breastfeeding. I now feel guilty giving her one for fear I might be damaging our breastfeeding situation. What do you think? Do you use them? I don't think I have or will overuse them. So far I have only used it at night. She is really hard to settle at night and nurses to sleep with comfort sucking. She is not swallowing and most of the time she lays there with my nipple in her mouth asleep but wakes up when I take it out and we have to start from square one. Last night I replaced it with the pacifier and she was back asleep in 5 minutes.
