nipple pain

so i have recently developed excruciating nipple pain where it hurts to nurse and LO doesnt even want to nurse on that side. i have no idea where it came from. i did have a clogged duct which i think was able to massage out. i have a dr appt this afternoon. does anyone have experience with this? no fever but i have felt run down. my nipple and areola are just so sore, tender, and swollen.
