Switching OBs

I really love my OB but they're 35 minutes from where I live but close ie 5 min from where I work. My bf would love for me to find a hospital closer to where we live. I have a great reco from a close friend and most friends I know have delivered at this hospital. So I'd like to entertain the idea of switching but have no idea how to go about it. If I weren't pg I'd probably just go in for an appt but I assume I'd have to transfer all my files in this case. Any thoughts or insights?
