NBR: Recommend your floor cleaner.

We are putting in the wood type laminate flooring this weekend because we have dogs and I am allergic and we are trying to be able to keep the dogs and one way is to get rid of our carpet.

Anyway I HATE sweeping with a broom. I realize sometimes I will just have to do it but do you guys have an recommendations for vacuum type cleaners for the hard floor? My vacuum now is only good for carpet and I just sweep the kitchen and bath. So any good recommendations for dogs hair and random messes toddlers make and outdoor mess (we have no mudroom) would be great!
