Flex spending and maternity leave

Hi all, 

does anyone know how flex spending money is paid if you are out on maternity leave and not getting a pay check from the company.  For medical insurance they doubled up on it when I came back, but in the employee handbook, it says they are not doing that anymore, and you will have to give a ch k while out, but there is nothing about flex spending.  Does anyone know?
