Is my 2.5mo feeding pattern normal?

DS is 10.5 wks right now.  For the past 7-10 days, he is consistently nursing 8x a day - 6 during the day and 2 overnight.  

Daytime feedings are fast, usually 10 minutes or less.  When he's done, he unlatches himself, rolls on his back, stretches his arm, and looks at me.  He doesn't comfort nurse during the day, and rarely falls asleep at the breast.

Nighttime feedings take at least twice as long, and he's usually half-asleep.  He also comfort nurses towards the end, and often I unlatch him around the 20-min mark.  

Is this normal nursing behavior for a 2.5 month old?  Also, he is getting distracted when nursing during the day.  I try to put my arm/elbow near his head to block his view so he can concentrate on nursing.   Will this distraction continue?  Any suggestions on how to deal with it?
