Celebration and advice

First of all, I am proud to say that I made it to my goal of BFing for 6 months!  This has honestly been the hardest thing I have ever had to do.  I was in pain for the first 3.5 months and have had mastitis 4 times in the past 2.5 months.  I'm doing everything correctly and LO doesn't have thrush, so I think it's just been caused by my oversupply.  Anyway, I spoke with my pediatrician about stopping BFing today and she was very supportive.  It would be have been great to make it to a year, but I am very proud of myself because it's been so difficult.  I've wanted to quit so many times, but I held out for my goal!

My question is - do you have any advice for me on weaning?  My pediatrician is going to contact her lactation specialist for guidelines since I am prone to mastitis.  Has anyone else had a similar situation or just tips in general for weaning?

Thanks!  And thanks for your help and support over the past 6 months, I would have given up long ago if not for this board!
