Would you find this comment hurtful?

A very good friend of mine has been posting pics on FB of her son sucking his 2 fingers lately...so I posted this on one of the pics and she found it hurtful....I didnt mean it to be hurtful, do you think it was hurtful? To me it was advice like as if your grandmother gave you a tip/tricks on things to put on babys gums for teething.

"whats with the fingers everytime I look he's got those 2 fingers in his mouth hahaha...you have to put a little lemon juice on it then he will stop sucking them."

 

I of course apologized and told her it was never meant to be hurtful only advice, but then her DH wrote a really nasty comment that I felt was extreamly uncalled for, so now I am not sure how to handle.
