Bronchitis and other sicknesses

I found out today after feeling like crap for weeks, that I have the flu that eventually progressed to bronchitis...Joy. Anyways my OB started me on a few meds to get it cleared out of my system and help me feel better. I was just curious how the anitbodies transfer to LO? I've read that if you get sick during pregnancy it helps LO develop a better immune system, anyone know if that's true or just an OWT?
