Finally dilated to 3cm!

So I have been dilated 1cm since 32 weeks (am now 37wks).. I have been having crazy tons of contractions/cramping this past week and actually was in L&D two nights ago since my contractions were 5 minutes apart.. After keeping me for 3 hours I had only gotten to 1.5 so they sent me home.. I went to the doc today and am finally at 3!  I have been in so much pain the last few days so I'm just happy to know all this pain and contractions is actually doing something!  Anybody else experience anything like this and go into active labor soon?  I am back to contractions every 10 minutes and they are gradually getting more painful.  Hoping tonight is it!!
