EBF for how long? Need advice!

So I EBF my DD, well sometimes she gets a bottle of BM. Our doctor said we can start solids around 6 months but has anyone EBF for the first year? I've read that all babies need till they are 1 is breast milk. That when you do solids it's more for practicing and getting use to solid food? Has anyone read anything on EBF for a year, or like 9 months, being ok and their LO being satisfied with that? I'd like to EBF without introducing food for however long is safe for my DD. Thanks for any feedback!
