Sitting in LD waiting... Why?!

Baby girl usually goes nuts moving all around at night after I put the kids to bed, last night nothing. My radar was up, one little flutter this morning and then nothing else all day. Ive also felt pretty crampy for the past few days, so I called my doctor, and was sent to LD. Baby looks good and everything is fine, yay... But I'm still here and have no idea what is taking so long! It's been over 2 and a half hours now. I assume they'll send me home. I'm having steady contractions every 5 to 6 min apart, what I thought was cramps, but not dilated at all, so I'm not in labor. Any idea why I'm still here?
