How long should baby be nursing?

Just wondering how long is normal for baby to be at breast each time...

LO is 6 weeks old (39 weeks gestation/adjusted) and we are EBF as of last week. When we started EBF last week, he would be at breast for at least 20 minutes on each side. Now, he's pushing away after 10-15 minutes and sometimes will not go to the other side. I know it's normal that they get faster and more efficient, but I didn't expect it to happen this quickly. I want to make sure he's getting the hind-milk as well as the fore-milk and I don't know at what point the change happens.

Also, is it ok that he only feeds on one side at a feeding as long as I start him on the other side the next time? He eats anywhere from every 1 1/2-3 hours and when he goes the 3 hours he typically feeds on both sides; but if he only goes 1 1/2 hours, he will typically only eat on one side.
