Anyone planning on elective induction?

I know this is a hot topic, but what are your thoughts on elective induction? I still have a while to go and anything can happen, but today my doc said they start elective inductions at 39 weeks assuming you have a favorable cervix. I live in Texas with all my family in NY and my sister wants to fly out the day after my due date for 6 or 7 days. I am comforted knowing I can induce while she's here so she doesnt go back to NY with me still pregnant! And I will have gone passed my due date. Am I out of my mind?
