SO cord blood banking...

FI and I have ultimately decided to donate the cord blood, but when I was searching online on how to set that up, one of the guidelines was that you had to register early in your pregnancy, or between the weeks 28-34, which I have obviously surpassed. 

Is there no other way to donate cord blood? It seems silly to me that if it's in such high demand that this cord blood will ultimately go to waste because I'm a week more than what the guidelines suggest.

Anyone have any advice, insight or knowledge about this? 

ETA: This was through www.marrow.org, so maybe it's just their specific guidelines...?
