29 weeks and contractions every 2-3 minutes

I had to come in to LD last night because I was having frequent contractions.  My cervix isn't doing anything and the baby is completely fine but I'm still having contractions that are 2-3 minutes apart.  Usually they don't hurt but sometimes there is some very very minor cramping pains.  I've been given 2 bags of fluids and something to stop the contractions or at least space them out with no effect.  I had a little bleeding but that could have been from the exam and has stopped now.  There was some talk of partial placental abruption but there is no perinatologist here to do an ultrasound over the weekend.  

At this point my doctor is saying "I have no idea why you are contracting so much" which isn't the most reassuring thing!  However, nothing bad seems to be happening.

Has anyone had any experience with something like this before?
